5.10 Import from the COLLADA file format

COLLADA is an open standard for the representation of 3D meshes. It is supported by the Khronos group which is also responsible of the OpenGL and OpenCL standards.

COLLADA can be used to define 3D meshes, with their materials, skeletal and vertex animations, and physical properties of the objects, along with the scenes, lights and cameras.

A COLLADA plugin exists for Crystal Space, along with the ‘collada2cs’ application, and allowing to convert meshes from the COLLADA to the Crystal Space file formats.

This plugin is however currently still limited, and can only load static meshes. To import animated meshes, or for a more generic way to deal with this file format, please see the Assimp's generic import of models.
