1  Associate Projects / CrystalBlend Discussion / Blender 2.41 release, does it have the cs implementation? on: February 22, 2006, 03:24:10 am
Blender 2.41 just got released only one month after 2.40... this release has lots of updates towards the gaming side.

I was wondering, since I haven't heard much on the development on CrystalBlend, is CrystalBlend being used in the new blender release?

Jorrit's last entry in his blog about this was pretty long ago, so I'm curious to see how its going on too. Jorrit also mentioned that he was waiting for the 2.40 release, so whats happening now?

I'm not sure I get you correctly... are you asking if CrystalSpace has an inbuilt Install maker for when CS apps are completed?

If so, then no, CrystalSpace doesn't have one, and yeah you have to use NSIS Smiley

The end users shouldn't have a problem with using a distributed CrystalSpace game, as long as you have the required libraries and other resources along with it (like planeshift).

Well the reason for the use of portals instead of open air maps is to increase efficiency. You'd find even in the best of commercial games that maps are not always in whole but split into chunks.

But if you mean terrain, there are terrain tests in CS that shows a large portal-less area (though I cannot recall how to use them right now). I think the celtest might be portal-less too.

I can't really see a way to make a plugin for it... Unless you mean to create a plugin that analyzes a wav data format and adjust the mouth accordingly. But I don't think it would be very effective (or it would be difficult to create).

You'd have to do the synchronizing yourself I would think, then play the sound as the animation starts.

3D Game Studio is ALOT easier (in my opinion =P).

3DGS is aimed for the beginner coder (if I remember correctly, you don't need code to create games) and onwards. While CS is aimed more towards more experienced C++ coders (of course the determined inexperienced beginner can still learn =D).

Well you could say CrystalSpace is lower level comparitively, like C++ and Python... =)

13 FPS is pretty small for showing so little =P

Hah, there aren't many 'spicy' games in the current game market. I doubt there will be any for Crystal Space anytime soon =D

A very ambitious project you have there. Many people would be critical of this project (like me =) ), judging from the skill you have already, and how professional your website looks...

But don't let that bother you =D You may have heard of a certain group of developers called ID software that started as amateurs... =P

Did you have a look around in the documentation? I think it might have the info you need

I see no problem in using Crystal space for making an RTS.
13  Crystal Space Development / General Crystal Space Discussion / FED UP WITH TRYING TO COMPILE CRYSTAL CORE !!!!!!!! on: June 22, 2005, 12:04:56 pm
I'm pretty sure it means the cvs version.
14  Crystal Space Development / General Crystal Space Discussion / FED UP WITH TRYING TO COMPILE CRYSTAL CORE !!!!!!!! on: June 06, 2005, 12:21:29 pm
The "can't find libz-cs" either means that you havent downloaded and installed the cswin32libs properly, or you need to move the dlls to the directories.

EDIT: You can download it through the online CVS http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/crystal/CS/, but if you're missing that file, chances are you are missing some other files too. So its probably better to redownload it all through the cvs (or you could just try a cvs update to see if tht works).

Yes crystalcore is supposed to come with a configure file  Smiley

Try doing another cvs update. Might be best to make a clean copy though.
