I'm currently trying to do this in my own level. I'll give some tips where possible, but I haven't yet gotten this working through blender2crystal.

I notice 60 people have read this.
Making a good skybox is key to making realistic looking levels.
So far we have one option which is to use Valve Hammer editor.
This is a bit limiting though, what about people using Blender?
How do you get it lit properly?
Add a light in the skybox sector... of course, this depends on what you mean by "properly"

Basically, the meshes in the sector (or the sector itself? I can't remember offhand...) need the <camera /> tag in them. I don't know how to do this using blender2crystal yet. (which is the source of my problems with it)

Looking at that map in walktest, I'm pretty sure that the "moving clouds" are just a rotating translucent sphere with a cloud texture on it... that's not hard to do in blender.
If you want something that looks a bit more like the skies in Unreal, you probably want an animated (procedural) texture and/or simple UV animation on a translucent cloud texture.

Using shaders, I'm pretty sure this can be done. I think Xotic said he was going to be working on this soon... you may want to ask him in #crystalspace.

Well, after installing the latest CVS version (and figuring out that I previously had 2 versions installed) and doing some more work on my level, I've narrowed it down to one error, which is the error when loading the blender file and pressing "Run":

Get ready, there's a bunch of them...

This is using version 0.6.0pre6, the latest off the blender2crystal site.

First one: This error happened when I tried to open the Tools section in the blender2crystal window. Then it kept happening when I tried reopening the exporter, until I quit blender.

On the blender2crystal website, on the download page, the link for the ebuild is broken... any chance someone could correct the link? I'd like to test out the ebuild.

To quote our website:

"The year is 2695. For centuries, mankind has been content to wage war with itself. Two factions, The People's Republic of Terra and The League of United Worlds dominate most of the galaxy. In a remote corner of Terran space, a discovery has shaken both governments to their core. Suddenly, it has become very evident that humanity is not alone in the universe..."

I've been working steadily on this game since September. We just recently (April 23) released an alpha test. Soon we'll be releasing another with quite a bit of cleanup and some improved gameplay.
