Crystal Space Development / General Crystal Space Discussion / what's the best 3d program?

All the other apps: maya, softimage, rhino, lightwave are great comercial apps wich don t have an exporter for CS, thought you can still use them to model, UVmap , and texture.
Actually maya does have a CS Exporter just not a cal3d exporter. The CS exporter was a bit out-dated but CyaNox i belive is updating it to support newer meshtypes and iron out the bugs etc, plus Dentoid was working on a CS canvas inside maya for realtime previews etc, althought it is moreso for his own project it is hoped that he will make the CS part of it available when it's ready.... we hope. Here is a preview for all those who havnt seen it: http://dentoid.mine.nu/crystal%20space/crystalmaya7.jpgI've also heard rumours about a lightwave exporter under construction for a project.

I made some minor changes like adding a link to the CVS version of win32 libs and tutorial incase they wanted that, and moved something into the header. It is now approved and can be seen on the articles page. i also changed it from "Make -k all" to "jam" because CS doesnt use the make system, make just calls jam in CS anyway. also i changed it so that it's using the new renderer because it's now default, best to get people to use it.

Crystal Space Development / Game Content Creation / Where to start learning shaders

Well, the engine is able to use CG format shaders using a type of bridge XML shader to pass on information from CS to CG code, also what you're talking about already exists in CS (if you're looking for a textrure+cubemap then there is that shader in the shader gallery) but if you want no texture ontop of that that shader comes with CS in data/shader/reflect.xml also my XML tutorial PART 1 has a part about adding shaders to your materials and how to find out what shader variables you need, so check it out.

Miscellaneous / Article/Tutorial Requests / Shader HowTo

Applying an already existing shader to a mesh factory is now covered in Part 1 of my XML map file format tutorials. Also the New Renderer Docs are nearing completion and that has a good shader/renderloop tutorial in it so i think we'll have to leave this one upto the experts

Okay ive added a tutorial like Keens about CVS on windows but with WincVS.
I'm having trouble with the World Format breakdown tutorial becasue when i try submit it it reads the XML as HTML but if i say to not include HTML then it just deletes it from the page entirely. Perhaps i will have to post it on an outside link which i don't think would be fun or just make it a file available for download via the article link, i dont know.
i also added a few more shader pictures from dentoid.
