Crystal Space Development / Support / Still having installation difficulties

Finally, I switched compilers (MSVC Express AKA 8.0) and I re-downloaded CS and followed the instructions on one of the help pages. Everything ran fine until errors saying could not find 'windef.h' popped up (God, Windows sucks...). I read the FAQ saying there wasn't a proper set up of the Platform SDK or what-not. I went there, and it was cluttered with too many options and things I had no clue what to do then.
So, I need help. I'd really like to start on my project. I have everything, but this stupid 'windef.h' error. Thanks in advanced.

Crystal Space Development / Support / C++ and XML along with other tutorials?
|
on: November 02, 2007, 05:12:19 pm

I've been scanning over the site and I've noticed that tbhere are tutorilas for the C++ language, buit there aren't many about the topic I'd like to cover from straight C++. Most of these tutorials use XML to store data or information. Should I use XML files or is there another way to do this all in C++?
Also, are there any other tutorials to learn CS and CEL from? I'd like to learn all of CS capabilities and how to use them properly. Thank you for your response.

Crystal Space Development / Support / Mac files? - Last question, I swear :)

Okay, I was reading over your CEL tutorials for an FPS and it mentioned requirements for physics and collision etc. It mentioned that those files work very well with windows or VC or something like that. Will CEL work with the Mac? It did say that Crystal Space was cross platform, but what about those extra files?
Thanks.

Ah, I see now. Thank you a bunch. Just for you to know, we are going to use CrystalSpace. Expect to see some posts in the WIP when we get further. ~Stronghold

Then what do you mean by: All modifications to Crystal Space must remain free however. But you can do with your own code whatever you wish. By 'modifications', what do you mean if 'modifications', doesn't mean internally?

So if we use CrystalSpace in our game, and use our own code working together, it will be fine. However, if we use CrystalSpace and, internally, add our own code; that would not be fine for commercial use. Am I correct?

Crystal Space Development / Support / Making profit

Thanks for your response on my last question. Now here's a new one: Can I make profit if I use Crystal Space for commercial use? Crystal Space looks very promising, and my team would like to be able to use it, but if it's not free, we won't be able to. Thanks again.

Crystal Space Development / Support / Crystal Space and C++

I was on the gamedev forums when I found out about this. I am on a game team and we need to make progress in this week. After days of slaving over trying to make a game engine, we decided we weren't hired to make the game engine, we were hired to make a game. In short, I went to the gamedev forums and asked for an OpenGL compatible engine. The reply was the Crystal Space website. I looked at the screen shots and documentation. I really like this engine (reading about it), but I didn't see anything about C++. Is Crystal Space compatible with C++? If so, are there any tutorials for C++? I'd like to use Crystal Space, but I didn't see a lot of how it was used, just what it did. I hope, in the end, I can use this software. Thank you all.
