Noob, need help starting.

Okay, as you might be able to tell so far from the topic title is that I need help getting crystal space to work.  As you may or may not be able to tell from past experiences, all i see from the download that I got is a bunch of unreadable files.  Now, i understand that you have to compile them, but i can't quite figure out how axactly.  I am using the Pesudue Stable Version of Crystal Space and for the compiler, I downloaded the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition but I don't know how to get started.  Please don't make fun of me too bad for not getting it, and I don't know C++ yet, but I will learn with Crystal Space.  Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to answer my question.

Well first thing. Did you read the manual? The manual explains how to build CS. You should start with that at least.
