crystal space errors under ubuntu packages

I realize that this forum is probably not intended to support distribution specific packages of Crystal Space. But, if anyone has any information that can help me or put me on the path to figuring this out, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have installed Crystal Space from the Ubuntu package manager. The packages are crystalspace, crystalspace-data, crystalspace-dev, and crystalspace-doc. I've tried running walktest and csdemo after installation, but both programs give the error:

$ walktest
pure virtual method called
terminate called without an active exception
Aborted

I'm not even sure where to start diagnosing this problem. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Hard to say, without knowing the CS version that Ubutu provides...
If you want to develop an application using CS, it's strongly advised to build CS yourself anyway.
