. I'm running the latest stable debian release, have mesa installed(in working condition). I've also installed the 3 supossedly neccesary libs: libz, libpng, libjpeg and tried to convince 'configure' to find em but failed to do so in the latter two cases.
Can anyone give me some assistance?

Nevermind, just found this tiny note: Note that the latest stable release of Crystal Space (0.98) will NOT work. (!)

Well I'll be damned, weren't stable releases supposed to work!?

It was written on your wiki. And well it doesn't work for me:/

My computer freezes during compilation resulting in broken libs. Hoping that the cvs will resolve the problem, gone from 2 freezes to one after recent update from cvs.

Eh, what you have seen is probably a note regarding cswin32libs.. the newest win32libs does not work with CS 0.98 (you need to match version)
Apart from that 0.98 does work (i just tested it in mingw, compiled fine)
