does anyone know of a method to get objects and characters etc, from maya into crystal space?

The CS/scripts/maya directory (or $prefix/share/crystalspace/conversion/maya, if installed) contains a couple exporter scripts, though they haven't necessarily been updated in a while.

i'm working on a plugin exporter; the mel scripts work pretty well, but seem to choke on large models.  still debugging, but should be presentable soon.

Also, a pretty good way (if you *have* to use maya) is exporting to .obj, then importing into blender or 3D Max. It only works for meshes though.
