Do you need programming to make a decent game in cs?

Ya, I'm thinking of downloading cs, and i was just wondering whether you need programming to make a decent game in cs, or if u totally need programming to create a game period. I'm thinking i might try learning a programming language like c or c++ tho anyway.

At this moment you still need to learn programming (C++) to make a game with CS. In the future you should probably look at CrystalBlend project (see main CS site). With CrystalBlend you will be able to make a game in Blender with no programming required.

CS most definitely requires programming experience. It has a steep learning curve for even experienced programmers. CS is a programmer's SDK (software development kit) rather than a high-level, end-user game-creation tool. You can find some such high-level tools for both 2D and 3D games, but they won't offer the sort of flexibility you will get with CS. On the other hand, such high-level tools are aimed especially at those wishing to make games without requiring much or any programming.

thx alot guys, so ur pretty much saying that cs is more flexible than other engines because u need programming? Lately I've been working on a website with photoshop and ive been looking up game designers too, and I found this site called ambrosine.com. thats were i found crystal space.

Oh ya...i have another question ive been wondering for awhile.....I've learned html and css from various resources, but where should I start learning c++? I tried some tutorials saying c++ for beginners, teaching you about strings and basic properties.........but they were too confusing. Its probably because im only in grade six....(hehe, boy i do have high hopes)

Yes. You can use MSVC8 (which is now free for one year) or else www.mingw.org

just push through it, didn't stop me making and finishing my rpg when I was 11 (by the time I finished I was fully proficient in C++).

Once you have learnt C++ to some level everything else becomes easier (as its just reading technique and api's)

well i am in grade 8 and i am currently reading C++ for Dummies. Its pretty cool but it dosnt cover very much game development

That's not really needed. When I was at university I didn't get a course in C++, 3D Graphics, or Game programming either. But I still made Crystal Space
