User experiences with Crystal Space

Hi Guys,

I'm a university student from Australia who is doing a presentation on Crystal Space next week, and was wondering if I could get some opinions and information on the framework from those who use it; you!

If you are able to lend me some stories or information, I'd love to know about:

-The best aspects of Crystal Space, what led you to use it over other frameworks/3D engines.
-Some of the limitations of Crystal Space, including problems you may have had occasionally or frequently while using it.
-What sort of tasks and projects you mainly use Crystal Space for, and whether you see yourself using it often in the future.

Don't feel compelled to stick to that sort of information though, I basically want to present a complete rundown on Crystal Space so any information would be appreciated. Likewise, if you have projects created or using Crystal Space I'd love to hear about them. Any responses will be appreciated greatly!

What are the difference between Handbrake and MacTheRipper?

Handbrake is made up of various sets which enables you change the disc into different uses, such as iPhone and iPod touch. It is complex structured which has the ability to find and extract the major specialties automatically. It can also be used for ripping others, including the disc—previews. What’s more, it allows you to make a choice between different formats, including MPEG-4, MKV, AVI, and OGM format. If you are a Mac user, rip DVD to MP4 on Mac is your best choice since it goes with Mac and Apple formats.

You find through the internet the old version of MacTheRipper, which goes not with the updated copy-protection methods. If you want to get the updated version, you will have to take part into RipDifferent forums and buy one copied MacTheRipper 3.x. this software is also able to find and rip its major specialties and other parts. Then, an Audio_TS and a Video_TS are created. The Video_TS can be played by DVD player of Apple by choosing Open DVD Media from its menu, opening the folder, and then clicking Choose. In this way, HandBrake or AppGeeker can be used to transfer the Video_TS folder into another file format which can be played as you want.
 
Fairuse Wizard has been used by me to transfer my DVD to AVI on Mac, and it can only produce AVI. I have owned its free old version with a feature of User Friendly.

Nowadays, people frequently use AVI, so I’d like to find some way to transfer my DVD movies into AVI.  All the trials I’ve down failed in their lack of features to know the files’ content before transferring and to divide the ripped DVD into 4-6 parts as Fairuse wizard has, just as I’d like to transfer DVD at 1200MBPS while produce 300MPBS’ 4 different AVI files.

For Fairuse Wizard, it is easy to complete. But is there any software which is able to do it also? No matter it is FREE or not, only if it owns what Fairuse Wizard owns except transfer DVD files to AVI.

At the beginning, Fairuse Wizard was in my use. But I discarded it since AppGeeker is more user-friendly and simple. It can convert DVD to .MOV and it owns what Fairuse owns, no matter in file size which can be done by constant quality settings or a cropped preview window. What’s more, it’s faster and keeps higher quality.

For a long time, the converted files work with no problem and my MOV QuickTime has no problem either. But the long-term A/V sync issues appear in small subset. I parted them away. During the ripping and transferring process, the time of making is enough of about two hours and the dub of DVD is high-speed, then everything is ok. On the contrary, if the size is too big to be transferred, it will be transferred into FR mode with recompression, form the sync problems occur. You may see that the disks work well in Panasonic, DVD players and computer and the made files work well in VLC. But even an MOV will not have problems by using Handbrake or Vidcoder.

It is interesting that by using Fairuse Wizard I can change these problematic ones to xvid or MP4 and make good effect with no problem. In this way, only FR recordings have problems in transferring by using Handbrake engine.
