Hi!

Is somebody started to make an Audiere plugin for CS? I think it's a fast and professional sound system, and I want to use it in my game, but I can't imagine how can I implement it...

I taked a question and I have ansver for dingobloo:

"I am confused about which sound system you are using, it doen't appear to be the new sound system available in CS. For an example of the useage of the sound system just mentioned you may look in /CS/apps/tests/sndtest/ or alternativley
here:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/crystal/CS/apps/tests/sndtest/"

Can I using different sound system: fmod, audiere etc in CS? Is possible?
If I using differenet sound system I must make the plugin?

You can use any sound system you want as you can just use any C or C++ library together with CS. i.e. using CS doesn't mean you can't use other libraries for networking and sound. Of course you can also use the CS sound system.

Greetings,

Yes of course. I saw the latest version: feb 13 2006
This system is: free, fast, cross-platform and simple!

http://audiere.sourceforge.net/download.php

"It supports several audio file formats:

    * Ogg Vorbis (requires the vorbisfile libraries)
    * MP3
    * FLAC (requires libFLAC)
    * Speex (requires libspeex)
    * uncompressed WAV
    * AIFF
    * MOD, S3M, XM, IT

It also supports the following output devices or APIs:

    * DirectSound (Windows)
    * WinMM (Windows)
    * OSS (Linux and Cygwin)
    * SGI AL (IRIX)
"

Making a sound plugin is a VERY complicated thing. We're very busy and we don't need such a plugin ourselves. We work a lot on CS things. We can't do everything.

Any update on this? Have you started working on the plugin? I would love to have it, if available. Smiley

There are still no Audiere plugins in CS, but it seems that this project is no longer active so there are poor chances that it will be included in CS one day or another.

But there is the OpenAL plugin which should be what you need, see iSndSysRenderer, iSndSysRendererOpenAL and the asndtest application for more info.
