1  Crystal Space Development / Support / Re: Shader not loading on: September 02, 2006, 01:42:59 am
I just tried this out, and I have an almost black screen. There is a room, but it's really dark in there. -relight doesn't help.

Output is:
Code:
$ ./walktest data/stenciltest/

Segmentation fault

The segmentation fault happens when exiting any CS application. It appears somewhere in OpenGL/TLS. Propably the video driver.

Debian Linux testing
Kernel 2.6.15.4
GeForce 2 Ti
nVidia driver 7174

I just updated to revision 25269 and the error output disappeared, but the room is still dark.

Most other apps and maps also show the ...shader.glcg error, propably because I don't have libcg installed when building CS.
2  Crystal Space Development / General Crystal Space Discussion / Re: Current physics status? & genral engine's status and features? on: August 29, 2006, 01:15:10 pm
Collision with terrain works but not for physics. That is in development.

CEL has a demo called wheeledtest, where you steer a car on terrain. How does this work then?

By the way, it's really hard to keep the car on track. I think it needs some tweaking on the friction values Wink.

I don't know if that's all, but try calling PushDir() before ChDir().

Good luck!
4  Crystal Space Development / Support / Re: Include Crystal Space Libraries on: August 08, 2006, 08:06:45 pm
I want to explain why the makefile isn't there, and why it makes a difference when you install different versions of the winlibs package. That's no explanation why configure doesn't work, sorry.

Don't miss Jorrit's previous post !
5  Crystal Space Development / Support / Re: Simple1 segments on target installation on: August 08, 2006, 06:37:57 pm
You can use the GNU Debugger (gdb) to see where the segmentation fault exactly happens. To do so, call "gdb simple1" and type "run" into the gdb prompt. Now when it crashes and returns to gdb, type "backtrace" or "ba" to see in which place the error happened.

The CS directory continues being equal, therefore I do not understand the difference between using a version or another one, with respect to the CS configuration.

I have installed everything in the correct directories?? ?So that the CS directory does not contain the file makefile?
It makes a difference to the configure script, which in part creates the makefile. So as long as the configure doesn't work, you don't need to try make or jam.

The SVN repository is where the development happens. Therefore it occasional happens that someone commits changes that introduce compile errors or other bugs. So you should update your copy of the repository a day later or two if you encounter such problems.

To do this, go to your CEL directory and run "svn update".

If the problem remains, check back here and post the date and time of your last update. The developers will then take care of it (hopefully).

If you're interested, you can watch what the developers do: http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/cel/cel/
8  Crystal Space Development / General Crystal Space Discussion / Re: Books on CrystalSpace on: August 03, 2006, 05:32:35 pm
There are some books which cover CrystalSpace in some chapters. Among them are "Official Butterfly.net Game Developer's Guide" and "MAC Game Programming" by Szymczyk . I've had none of them in my hands though.
There have also been rumors about Jorrit writing a book Wink.

Couldn't wait for an answer, so I began on the community page:

http://community.crystalspace3d.org/tiki-index.php?page=Plugins

If nobody intervenes, I will continue on that, and hopefully others too. Perhaps you could add a menu entry for that someday.

3. Edit the wiki! Please do. It is there for you to use (and also for us of course) smiley

I'd really like to, but which one? There are at least two of them, one on CrystalSpace homepage, and one on the community page. There's a third one on the CrystalCore homepage, containing information which is also on the CrystalSpace page.

I'm confused Smiley

Now where should CS documentation go? In my opinion, one Wiki would be sufficient. I see that the Wikis are used for content management on both pages, so you should either restrict write access to the homepage, or at least clearly state what to go where.

I would like to see one page for each plugin, gathering all documentation for the particular plugin. When I know where to put it, I'd like to make the beginning Smiley

I also use MacOS 10.3.9 and didn't have exactly these problems, but different ones from day to day in the CVS version, and also the old pseudo-stable release, but it worked some day. Did you also try some newer versions?

I also use Jam as the build tool.
12  Associate Projects / Crystal Core Discussion / CrystalCore does not run on MacOS X on: February 14, 2006, 04:38:15 pm
Hallo all,

I tried running CrystalCore on my PowerMac with OS 10.3.9. CrystalSpace is CVS from today (which ist broken but easy to fix), today's CrystalCore CVS, and CEL some days old. This is the output when running it from the command line:

Code:
Crystal Space for MacOS/X 0.99 r0 [MacOS/X-powerpc-GCC]
Ported to MacOS/X by Eric Sunshine <sunshine@sunshineco.com>

I tried both the data files the wiki points to, and the ones stated in the output. How does this versioning work anyway? This also happened when I tried CVS a few weeks ago.
BTW, my screen has 16,7 million colors, which is either 24 or 32 bit.

I hope you can help me, and I can help you wink

Fabian
13  Crystal Space Development / Support / Re: Does anyone have compiled CS on an IBook ??? on: January 22, 2006, 11:58:59 pm
This is strange indeed. I only got this error when I installed GCC 4 through fink and used that instead. Do you have any other GCC installations? What does 'gcc -v' say? Which versions ob XCode and MacOS do you use?
14  Crystal Space Development / Support / Re: Problem, compiling on Mac OS X on: January 20, 2006, 12:21:57 am
Perhaps you should post more here than the last two lines, preferrably the error messages.
15  Crystal Space Project Development / Feature Requests / Re: Non-jerky terrain on: January 16, 2006, 10:09:13 pm
The way you suggested would be MUCH more costly compared to the current terrain lod.
This can't be true in general, as the engine from the "Battlefield" series of games implements this behaviour, and they certainly spent some thoughts on this.
I don't know how they do it exactly, but it can be noticed at certain detail settings and/or very fast camera movements, and looks like allpowerful32 described.
