1  Associate Projects / CEL Discussion / Python behaviour layer - no actor entity on: October 24, 2006, 07:33:51 am
I've created a simple scene - an untextured plane for a floor and a cube for the player entity. The scene runs fine when exported with the behaviour layer set to blxml. When behaviour layer is set to python, the actor entity suddenly vanishes. I'm using Celstart v5 and latest cvs b2cs exporter.
2  Crystal Space Development / General Crystal Space Discussion / Re: New Castle level in CS: Testers required on: October 15, 2006, 12:41:19 pm
Last time I tried to run it with celstart it actually ran, but the textures wouldn't load.
3  Crystal Space Development / General Crystal Space Discussion / Useful content creation software on: October 06, 2006, 09:32:07 am
Content creation utilities. Some of them cheap, some free, all of them undeniably useful:

3D MODELLING AND GRAPHICS:

Jpatch: a 3d patch-based modelling application written in Java. Exports to obj format. (http://www.jpatch.com/) (free)
Art of Illusion: another 3d modelling application created in Java; supports multiple modelling paradigms. Under heavy development (www.artofillusion.org) (free)
Nvidia Melody: program for generating normal maps from high-poly 3d models; crashed on my computer, but might as well work on yours (developer.nvidia.com/object/melody_home.html) (free)
Normal map generator plugin for Gimp2:  generates normal maps from 2d textures. (http://nifelheim.dyndns.org/~cocidius/normalmap/) (free)
Open Render Bump: Like Nvidia Melody, but open-gl based and easier to use (http://engineering.soclab.bth.se/tools/177.aspx) (free) (recommended)

SOUND AND MUSIC:

Audacity: recording\audio edition environment. (audacity.sourceforge.net) (free)
ModPlugTracker: Windows tracker gone open-source; easy interface. (www.modplug.com) (free)
Linux Multimedia Studio: complete music creation environment; makes me wish I was a Linux user (http://lmms.sourceforge.net/) (free)
Muse: MIDI sequencer for Linux (http://www.muse-sequencer.org/) (free)

That's all for time being. I hope that with time and contributions from other forum users this thread will expand.
4  Crystal Space Development / Game Content Creation / Re: Poly count/cal3d smoothing on: August 28, 2006, 10:15:31 am
Ok, thanks. Smiley
5  Crystal Space Development / Game Content Creation / Poly count/cal3d smoothing on: August 28, 2006, 09:57:25 am
I'd like to ask two questions:

1. What is the optimal poly count for detailed models in CS, and
2. Does CS smooth cal3d models during the rendering?

 Thanks in advance.

Ok, thanks.
8  Associate Projects / CEL Discussion / Re: Unable to compile the tutorial on: June 09, 2006, 07:52:01 am
I'm using all the CS static libraries and libceltool.a library. I think the issue is a minor one given that it can be fixed just by switching the target.

EDIT: All the gcc compiler options from the Code::Blocks list were disabled during the compilation.
9  Associate Projects / CEL Discussion / Re: Unable to compile the tutorial on: June 09, 2006, 07:49:03 am
I'm using MingW and Code::Blocks. I think I've ran across same problem when trying to link my first CS program as a console application - it occurs each time I try to compile the CS app this way.Now that I switched the target to GUI application it built fine.

 Thanks for the quick reply!

10  Associate Projects / CEL Discussion / Unable to compile the tutorial on: June 09, 2006, 07:44:29 am
When I try to compile the CEL tutorial I get the following error:

:win32.cpp undefined reference to '_imp_GetStockObject@4'

I'm sure that all the dependencies are set correctly.

These "options" are called "application templates" - they're "skeletons" for the most typical applications you can create with VC++. It's quite safe to start your CS application as either console application or an empty project, just make sure you set all the required dependencies.

I've migrated to Crystal Space from Irrlicht - their community forum has excellent "Code Snippets" section, where registered members can post their own pieces of code for benefit of other engine users. I wonder if same thing could be done here...
