Real-time strategy, working title.

Brief description:
Colony3's goal is to produce a commercial (or near-commercial) quality RTS game based on Outpost 2 and its accompanying novella as a springboard toward founding a professional design house. Concepts and features have been in development for several years already and the community is ready to get behind a serious project. A number of subversive teams have forced us to expedite our efforts so content releases (concept art, screenshots, features, demos, movies) are of primary concern. We are the underdogs fighting the good fight against would-be corporate greed.

Target aim:
Colony3's timetable includes the production of the afore mentioned RTS game based on Outpost 2 and releasing it as freeware to the community. The completion of which is paramount as a springboard to higher aspirations: A fully commercial MMORPGRTS based in the Outpost universe. Colony3 is dedicated to building and supporting communities.

The initial Colony3 project is freeware and no monetary compensation is possible however, outstanding team members will be selected to join the Colony3 Group upon project completion to work on an as-yet untitled commercial MMORPG/RTS. Selected members will be entitled to a percentage of the income.

Windows PC, Crystal Space, C++, various 3D modeling software (3DSMax, Maya), others.

Talent needed:
Colony3 needs programmers, 3D artists (modelers, skinners) and audio (effects and music) talent. We are a community-based organisation and we welcome talent of all skill-levels, but professional talent is desired.

Team structure:
Colony3 has the benefit of having an entire enthusiast community (about 200 persons) behind us, but we are currently forming a core team (likely 5-10 talents) led by myself. I have collected 5 years worth of concepts and development meetings and my responsibilities are mainly administrative however, I am a 2D/3D Artist and design enthusiast (I have a part in all sectors of development). I have been working in the graphic design/game development community for 7 years. I am also the founder and administrator of Colony3 and an administrator in the Outpost Universe community.

Outpost 2 is an RTS released in 1997 created by Sierra. When Sierra was purchased by Vivendi Universal, the multiplayer servers went offline and the multiplayer community died. Soon an enthusiast community rose to support OP2 fans and begin updating the game to be compatible with modern networks. Outpost Universe has existed in some form since 2000. A major goal of the community has been to develop a sequel or remake based on the story and to purchase the rights to the game from VU so that the original game can be distributed for free by OPU. The community is devoted to resurrecting the Outpost franchise by releasing a commercial game based on Outpost 2 after the rights to the title have been purchased. We are serious about making a deal with Vivendi Universal and we have been in talks for 6 months.

Recently a number of subversive individuals have taken it upon themselves to collect non-copyrighted community material into a working portfolio to present to VU in order to purchase the rights to Outpost 1 and 2 for their own monetary gain. Their efforts are in opposition to Colony3's support of communities and has expedited our efforts. Thus we seek motivated talent and professionals to help make our goal a reality. Colony3 is dedicated to founding itself as a superb design house.
