Best thing is to start learning how to write in C/C++ and write some beginnign applications. You'll need to understand the concepts of pointer references, object oriented programming and the like. In the "General Crystal Space Discussion" forum you'll see a sticky called "Resources for Beginners to C/C++" - you'll probably want to start there.
